Night Departure

Description

Just after 5 PM MST, and just after sunset, the daily Sweetgrass-Laurel manifest finally pulls away from the Great Falls, MT yard, headed for Moccasin where they'll set out two cars before continuing on to their destination of Laurel, MT. This is the first time I've actually tried to shoot in this low of light, and I did use the built in flash.

Leading the train are BNSF Dash 9-44CWs 4604 & 5491.

As with my moon shot, I'm reasonably happy, considering it's a hand-held shot and not from a stable tripod.

Well, if you can crank your ISO up to 800 or even 1600 without catching a lot of noise, you might've been able to save the flash here. Not a bad shot though, considering the conditions. :)
