I was headed west from Denton, Montana after stopping at the Central Montana Rail HQ and didn't expect to see anything else until I got to Fort Benton and the BNSF branchline there. But then near Coffee Creek, Montana I come across this old Great Northern heavyweight coach sitting in a siding with two retired wedge-type snowplows.

It is GN Coach #902, but the original number is starting to show through the fading paint and it was originally GN Coach #X782.

Slap some bondo, a few coats of paint, and some new glass in there, and that would make a great private car. Those 6-wheel trucks were said to have excellent riding qualities!

It must have been spectacular once....it could be beautiful again if restored.

That would be a very cool diner. Especially if you could find bunch of old railroad china to serve the meals on (railroads had their own china with their logos and names on them in the old days). That would be really cool. :D

It was funny, when I was out west a few years ago, leaving from Billings, Montana going towards Salt Lake, we pasted this one area where there were a whole bunch of Narrow Gauge Steam trains like those from Walt Disney's Thunder Mountain RR. I so wish I had money at the time, cause when we stoped the guy who worked at the local store in among the graveyard of old engines, said the local magistrates would sell them, since they already had two preserved at the museum in the area.
