Southern SW1 1007

What a rare and classic beauty! Southern SW1 1007 is now owned by Knoxville & Holston River (a Gulf & Ohio company) (and is technically KXHR 1007). It was built in April 1947 as Atlantic & East Carolina #9 (builder #4582). When the A&EC was absorbed by the Southern Railway in 1958, she was repainted in Southern colors and renumbered as 404. Sometime after 1972 but before 1976, Southern renumbered her as #1007. In recent years, G&O restored 1007 to her glorious Southern black, white & gold paint scheme and on December 2, 2008, my Dad and I found her sitting at the G&O offices in Knoxville, TN.
