BNSF Dash 9s 5001 & 4474 and Ferromex (Ferrocarril Mexicano) ES44AC 4644 sitting in a siding at Bozeman, Montana with an eastbound manifest on March 8, 2008. They were waiting for a westbound unit grain train to get to the bottom of the hill and drop of two MRL SD70ACes to help them get over the pass to Livingston.

I wish that telephone pole hadn't been there...

Leave only tracks, take only pictures.
Easier to tell apart than the KCS and KCSM engines...especially with the new Southern Belle paint.
funny you say that...cuz i was thinking...look at that vintage telephone pole...it will be long gone in years to come...but see that is just my antique side comin out..lol love the shot..even with the pole there...soon every thing will be satellite, no more poles....hope there are still trains...in years to come! I can almost see the insulators on the pole......

Several years ago in western North Dakota there were still several miles of old telephone poles with glass insulators standing along the BNSF Hi-Line. One spring a mighty wind storm came in and knocked all the poles down. Two days after that, there wasn't an insulator to be found. People descended on the poles like vultures! :lmao:

SassyPants said it best. The wireline poles are still there, and appearing to be in service still. You don't see that anywhere anymore.

Though BNSF does still maintain some wire-line service in certain areas (the La Junta sub and Ark City sub come to mind).
