Four old boxcars I found sitting derelict behind the old Great Falls brewery, formerly hidden from view before part of the building burned. All four are classics, treasures really, to a train geek like me.
Great Northern 27727 in faded GN Green, with the Rocky the Goat logo on the side is first in line. According to the date stenciled on the side it was built in August 1942.
Next in the line is a wooden (!) CB&Q boxcar, so washed out and faded that almost nothing is visible on the side anymore, though I could barely discern a construction date of 1937.
Third in line is Northern Pacific 18074, with a build date of November 1949. This one has the arched "Northern Pacific" on the left side of the sliding door and the herald and "Main Street of the Northwest" on the right.
Fourth and last in line is NP 41977. I think the build date on this one was 1952. It has the HUGE "NP" on the left side and the HUGE herald on the right. You can clearly see the stencil stating it was retired in 1972.
